The place is in Carmichael, I go to LA Bou where I live, which is a far less scary area, but the biggest difference here, is they are more expensive and the serving size is far less where I go, plus they charge for coffee refills and hide the sweeteners, if they could charge you to use the restroom, they probably would, shame on them for charging what they do and nickel and diming you for chincy serving sizes. Will pass in the future and I love La Bou and have eaten La Bou for as long as they have been around, but this place is next level and I understand cost.

Was super disappointed in the amount of food you get for the price. The sandwich was dry & has maybe 2-3 pieces of meat on it like what? Are you kidding? Lol. The salad was so small. Both so bland. Added a cookie and a bottled water and the price was $17. Ooof. Do not recommend. Go somewhere where they actually put effort into their food and it’s worth the money.

Very different than I remember from the past. It's almost as if a mom and pop bought the chain and then completely changed the style and menu, so that it only slightly resembles a LaBou anymore. I went in wanting to order my usual half turkey salad w butter lettuce, avocado, and vinaigrette dressing and half soup. I used to love the Thai soup. When I tried to order, the cashier was less than helpful and didn't know what I was asking for when I tried to explain. He told me I could order a half sandwich and half soup. I had decided against the salad cuz I didn't recognize it in their menu until later after I'd finished eating lol. Anyway, I tried to order the sandwich and soup, but was told they couldn't. I ordered a full turkey sandwich on sourdough with mayo, lettuce, avocado, and cheddar cheese. I had to pay extra for the avocado and cheese. Wanted to add a small soup, but it was too much money for everything. It would've been $25, so just went with the sandwich which was STILL too pricey at $17 after tax. My friend ordered her half salad and sandwich and got her food almost immediately, but for some reason, my order took over 10 mins... Not sure why that was. The sandwich was tasty, but they added cucumber and bellpeppers so I had to pick those off. I don't live in the area, but I won't be coming back when I visit again. It just ain't what she used to be 😔.

La Bou Bakery & Cafe ... I am told that LaBou is short for "la boutique boulangerie" by a special someone in my life who has lived in Sacramento all their lives that I trust completely with my life. This same person also introduced me to La Bou many years ago.

There was one in Roseville (Main St./Baseline Rd) many many years ago that has since had many businesses pass through and not really solidified. Anyway, during my many travels all around California, there are many choices of eatery's. I look for Veteran friendly places or employee types that if they offer Military or Veterans Discounts, will get a 5 Star review, but the food and service must still remain high and satisfactory with my visit. I promise that even if all the above are great but NO Military/Veteran support, 1 Star is deducted.

Anyway, on with the Review.... The employee (order taker) is awesome. As I walked through the door and was greeted with a friendly smile. Explanation of some of the specials and favorites where given. I selected the California Turkey. This has Turkey, Avocado, Romaine Lettuce, Roastrd Red Peppers, Cucumber and Mayo on specialty Walnut Bread. The shade of hue was a lite Purple /Brownish color of the Walnut Bread. The Bread was thick in appearance but with a fluffy soft chew to it. But be careful of the contents of the sandwhich wanting to slide out because the edges of where the crust meets the soft bread starts to crack and break away from it. The individual taste itself can be detected with each element of the contents as the Peppers where a little salted, a little Vinegary, the Avocado slices where a perfect.color and tasted that buttery consistency. While the Turkey, Romain Romain Lettuce and Mayo did their job to the perfect looking and might I add, tasty sandwhich. I recommend highly.

The surroundings are reminiscent of old style Cafe with the classic Bakery Case full of baked goods. The place was clean and people working behind the counter. I will give this location (La Bou), Carmichael a 5 Star review. Everything was great and the employee allowed a discount for honoring Military / Veteran.
