The best croissants we’ve had since Paris. I got there at 7:55am before they opened and there was a line of 30 people but it moved fast. If you’re late it will probably be sold out so come early.

People of Santa Monica, have you never had a pastry before? I’m truly baffled by the lines outside this place. We gave this place a try twice - prepare to be swimming in grease if you buy their puff pastry, it’s literally oozing out of the croissants ? I had the thickest layer of oil on my hands, it was gross. The rest of the pastries are fine but the croissants are truly unforgivable - I was hoping the first time was a fluke, but apparently this their style. It’s not just average, it’s pretty bad ?

Petitgrain Bakery has a charming vibe, and I tried their croissant, kouign-amann, and coffee. The croissant was buttery and flaky, but I found it a bit lacking in flavor. The kouign-amann, on the other hand, was much better and worth trying. However, the prices are quite steep—$6 for a plain croissant feels excessive. Unfortunately, the coffee was disappointing, though it might just be because it’s their first day serving it.

Overall, it’s a nice spot to check out if you’re curious, but the pricing makes it hard to justify regular visits.

I was really excited to try a new bakery on the Westside, especially because Eater LA had mentioned that they had the best croissant in LA.
I got there early on Sunday morning, as a Belgian would do on Sunday mornings… someone was leaving. I was by myself in the store and I wanted to take pictures for this review (you know since it’s a new business… help them out) and I felt rush to order. I ordered one of each except for the blueberry pie and the double chocolate chip cookie as I wanted to try everything.
Cinnamon roll was good, moist not too much cinnamon, the Boursin cheese scone was nice too. Everything with puff pastry was way too greasy. The croissant and pain au chocolat were not airy at all. The croissant was over baked (look at the picture… it was burnt on the bottom). I liked the chocolate chip cookie though… let’s just say I won’t be rushing back.

I loving walking here in the morning and treating myself with a piece of buttery flaky viennoiserie! Everything is delicious and perfect. Thank you for bringing us a real French bakery in the neighborhood!

Absolutely incredible. My ham and cheese croissant was still warm!! The almond croissant was loaded with the filling and the chocolate chip cookie was dreamy. I have been making Clemance’s recipes for years now so I had high hopes for my first time trying the bakery and it was as amazing as I thought it was gonna be!!

I love this new bakery in Santa Monica! They have the best croissant I’ve had in LA by far. It has the perfect balance of flakiness and crunch with a soft buttery inside. The chocolate croissant and the scones are also amazing! You can taste the high quality of the ingredients they use. I went on a Saturday morning and they were out of the pain au chocolat so I went back Sunday morning and was able to order one before they sold out. The service is also excellent, the person working the register on Sunday morning when I came by was an absolute delight to connect with. I hope they do well here because I am loving this place and I will definitely be back.

Edit: still love coming here but 2 times I come I’m given burnt croissants and it’s super disappointing when I arrive home especially since they’re 6$+ expect better quality and selection. No one wants burnt food.
Update: They gave me a croissant on the house to make up for the burnt one. I still come on a regular basis and always a treat I look forward to. These croissants are hard to beat and pretty close to the real thing.
